AARON BAXTER WEST AND SARAH KNOX-GOFF-WEST Aaron Baxter and Sarah Knox West were the parents of Milton Wallace West.   They had four sons and two daughters but I (Marilyn Bishop-West) have been unable to locate any names except Milton Walace West and his brother C.W. West who lived in Maple Wood, Wisconsin in 1919. Sarah Knox had at least two brothers Silas Knox and Mathew Knox who was born in Pennsylvania in 1839.  Sarah Knox was married to Owen Goff first and they had a daughter Rosa Goff who married David C. Wickersham.  David and Rosa moved from Mason City, Iowa to Crossville, Tennessee in 1887.  They moved from Crossville to Corpus Cristi, Texas sometime around 1900.  -- from the notes of Marilyn Bishop-West

1840 Norwich, New London, CT, census there is an Owen Goff born in CT between 20 and 30 living with a female between 30 and 40, no kids.  Can't prove if this is Owen Goff and Sarah.  Due to the layout of the 1840 census it will be nearly impossible to prove her location at that time.

   A son of Simeon West was born in Bradford County, Penn., Jan. 6, 1827. He went to Waukesha County, Wis., in 1849; to McGregor, Iowa in 1862, and came to this county in 1870. He is a farmer and stock raiser, residing on section 28, Rudd Township. He was married April 18, 1847 to Mrs. Sarah Goff, a daughter of Wm. Knox. They had six children - Wm. M., Chas. W., Milton W., Alice A., John A., and Sarah E. Mrs. West died Aug. 11, 1876, and Dec. 19, 1876, Mr. West married Mrs. Jane Elliott, widow of Wm. Elliott, and daughter of Mr. Webb. She had six children by her former marriage, three living - Eliza J., Mary A., and Arnilda. They are members of the Methodist Episcopal church.

At this point, I (Velera West-Pace 4-19-2008) think that one believable story would be that the Eliza J who is the daughter of William and Jane Elliott is the Eliza who married Charles West, son of Aaron Baxter and Sarah.  The reference is made to Jane having three children of six still living in 1882 and in the 1900 census.  Eliza is still alive with Charles in 1900 in Friburg, Otter Tail Minnesota.  Eliza is listed with both parents from Ireland and Willam and Jane Elliott are from Ireland.  This also explains how she is a married step daughter listed in the 1880 census with Aaron Baxter West.  The 1900 census says Charles and Eliza were married for 22 years, which also confirms they were married living under AB West’s roof in 1880.

1903 - D. C. WICKERSHAM has bought the property now occupied by Ernest Hyder and adjoining Dr. McClarney's office,.of J. W.Dorton  and H.G. Dunbar for $325. He expects to remodel it some and move into it. He is also considering the question of opening an-auction house or fancy grocery store. ROSELIA GOFF WEST WICKERSHAM

Crossville Chronicle, June 21, 1962 (Looking Backward) -(This was probably around 1900.)  Mrs. Wickersham related to the West family, a half sister of late M. W. West, father of Benjamin H. ( and the late Del West) when her daughter married Ed Wright, who then owned and operated a barber shop in the Cline building which stood on the corner where the Sanders Esso Station now is, moved to Corpus Christi, Texas she went with them.
